Hann-Ocean Energy’s Drakoo Wave Energy Generator Continues Generating Electricity Steadily

03/07/2023

Hann-Ocean Energy’s Drakoo wave energy generator has been undergoing sea trials for nearly 11 months in Shengsi archipelago. The generator is now under the second round of sea trial after being modified technically and has so far achieved several impressive results.

Drakoo wave energy generator is able to generate electricity at only a small wave height (10cm). On 24 June, the generator produced 8.3 kilowatts of power at a wave height of 1 meter, which is almost the same as the peak power of 8.7 kilowatts at a wave height of 1.2 meters three months ago, proving once again its ability and stability in the real sea. In addition, the generator also passed the severe test of a 2.4m wave, and Hann-Ocean is confident that it will be able to stand up to the test of other huge waves.

The ability of Drakoo to withstand the huge waves and to generate electricity efficiently and stably in the real sea, is the result of the persistent R&D and continuous improvements carried out by the Hann-Ocean team over the past 15 years. The third generation of Drakoo wave energy technology has matured and Hann-Ocean Energy is now working on wave tank testing for the next generation of Drakoo. Large-scale commercial applications of Drakoo wave power generation can be realized soon.
