Drakoo Successfully Passed the Typhoon Test

23/08/2023

At about 10 pm on 2 August 2023, the sixth super typhoon Khanun made a strong landfall in Shengsi, setting off violent winds on the whole island, with the maximum wave height of 6 meters. However, under this severe weather, Drakoo wave energy generator developed by Hann-Ocean Energy demonstrated its strong wind resistance and stood tenaciously at the Fisherman's Wharf in Wulong Township, successfully passing the severe typhoon test.

Drakoo is developed independently by Hann-Ocean Energy and patented in over 20 countries, and its anti-typhoon test has also attracted wide attention in the industry. Hann-Ocean Energy is well prepared for this typhoon testing, through CFD simulation and FEA analysis, to provide scientific support for the extreme working conditions of the once-in-a-century. A number of monitoring devices were also deployed at the site to record the valuable images of the monstrous waves brought by the typhoon and the data of the structure dynamics.

Until Typhoon Khanun left Shengsi at 4 a.m. on 5 August, after 54 hours of testing, Drakoo stood unharmed at the wharf. Hann-Ocean proved the Drakoo’s ability to withstand typhoons.

The success of this typhoon resistance test has laid a solid foundation for the promotion and application of Drakoo wave energy generator. In the future, Hann-Ocean will continue to devote itself to technological innovation and research and development, and continuously improve the reliability and stability of Drakoo wave power generator, so as to make greater contributions to the sustainable development of clean energy.
