On May 21, 2023, the "2023 East Cliff Forum-Innovative Development of Marine New Energy in Shengsi County" was successfully held in Sijiao Island, hosted by the People's Government of Shengsi County and organized by the Economic and Information Bureau of Shengsi County and Hann-Ocean Energy (Zhoushan) Co., Ltd. This was a high-quality forum with the theme of marine new energy and the focus on the site demonstration of Hann-Ocean Energy's Drakoo wave energy generator. The forum gathered famous industry, academia and research leaders, experts, scholars and enterprise representatives from the field of marine new energy. They discussed the development direction of ocean wave energy, witnessed the Drakoo wave energy generation, and made suggestions to promote the development of ocean industry.

At the beginning of the forum, Chen Wanzhang, member of the Standing Committee of the Shengsi County Party Committee and Deputy County Mayor, delivered a welcome speech. He said that Shengsi County is rich in marine energy resources and application scenarios and has great potential for the development of marine energy. Shengsi County has always attached great importance to the scientific research and development of new marine energy industry. This forum is an important initiative for Shengsi County to promote innovation and industrialization of marine energy technology, providing participants with a platform for communication and common development.

During the meeting, Prof. Shi Hongda from Ocean University of China and Deputy Director Wu He from National Ocean Technology Center made speeches. Prof. Shi introduced the current situation of marine energy research development at home and abroad and shared the latest research results and technical progress on marine energy， while Director Wu made a systematic analysis of the marine energy resources in Shengsi County. In addition, representatives from CGNPC New Energy Zhejiang Branch and Zhejiang Zheneng Jiaxing Offshore Wind Power Co., Ltd also introduced their new energy projects in Shengsi County respectively.

At last, as one of the organizers of the forum, Mr. Henry Han Lei, Managing Director of Hann-Ocean Energy (Zhoushan) Co., Ltd. made a speech. His speech focused on the core technology of Hann-Ocean’s self-developed Drakoo wave energy generation. In addition to the working principle and development history, Henry highlighted the experience and achievements of Drakoo’s sea trial in Shengsi over the past two years. Finally, as the climax of the forum, all the participants went to the sea trial site for a visit and inspection to learn more about the actual operation of the wave energy generation equipment.

After arriving the pilot site, although there was a strong wind, it did not affect the enthusiasm of the experts and professors. They climbed the inclined ladder down to the equipment to inspect and observe the technical details of the generator. Henry and his staff also gave a detailed introduction to the visitors on site.

In order to give visitors a deeper understanding of Drakoo wave energy generation technology, the organizers arranged a Q&A session in the hotel conference room after the site visit. During the discussion, experts and scholars asked questions about the impact of environmental factors on the power generation capacity, the reliability of the equipment, the application prospects and the challenges, etc. Henry provided detailed answers and gave everyone a more comprehensive knowledge of the technology.

Hann-Ocean has been committed to the research and development of wave energy generation for the past 15 years, and has achieved a series of achievements through continuous exploration and innovation. The successful hosting of this forum provides an excellent opportunity for Drakoo to be witnessed and reviewed by the experts and scholars in marine energy industry. Especially, in the sea trial project in Shengsi over the past two years, Drakoo wave energy generator has achieved remarkable results, allowing the participants to verify its ability to generate electricity even under tiny wave heights and the reliability of its power generation operation in real sea.

In the future, Hann-Ocean will continue to develop more efficient models and focus more on large-scale demonstration projects, while continuing to explore and build a model of cooperation between industry, academia and research to jointly promote the industrialization of wave energy generation technology applications and make a greater contribution to the promotion of the blue economy.
