The week of 29 October - 04 November 2018 was a busy period for Hann-Ocean, beginning with the Ocean Energy Europe Conference and Exhibition (OEE) at Edinburgh between 29 and 31 October. The Managing Director, Henry Han met delegates from companies such as Black & Veatch, INNOSEA and ENEL who expressed considerable interest in Drakoo Wave Energy Converter (WEC). OEE certainly did not disappoint and Hann-Ocean looks forward to returning next year.

On the heels of this event, Henry Han met Mr. D’Urso, the General Director of Energy (Sicily region) in Catania, Italy to discuss the possibility of developing a pilot project for Drakoo WEC in the region.  This was followed by a meeting with Mr. Domenico Arabia, Mayor of Santa Marina, Salina and Ms. Clara Rametta, Mayor of Malfa. In the preceding weeks, Hann-Ocean had engaged in a preliminary feasibility study for deploying a Drakoo WEC array onto a breakwater at Santa Marina, Salina. Henry Han presented the results of this study to the dignitaries, with the assurance of delivering the highest quality service. The discussion extended to Hann-Ocean’s pontoon business line (http://hann-ocean.com/index.php/products/rigifloat.html) when topics such as the planned upgrade of the jetty at Santa Marina and the idea of supplying a Drakoo WEC-equipped pontoon and recreational area for the harbour of Santa Marina, were broached. Overall, the Italian leg of the journey proved highly fruitful for Hann-Ocean and the team was treated to some spectacular drone footage of the Malfa, Santa Marina and Lipari Pignataro harbours.

To top it all off, the week ended with a meeting at the headquarters of one of our clients in Abu Dhabi, UAE. Henry Han presented Hann-Ocean’s design and simulation results for the project, much to the satisfaction of the client. Back home, the team continues to work towards a flawless execution of this project which is expected to open doors in the offshore oil and gas industry.
